Day 1...we traveled to Walmart in Matamoras, PA. 388 miles
Day 2..we traveled to Claytor Lake SP in New Bern, VA. Nice campsite, too bad we had to move on so quickly...we'll have to go back there.
Day 3...We end up at Fort Yargo SP in Winder, GA. Another very nice park that we must go back to.
Day 4...we are at "The Rally" held at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Our fist day here we get ourselves familiar with the grounds. Very impressive, for sure. We had a wonderful time...attended 5 Geeks on Tour seminars (now I can blog) :-) Loma went to Bob Blumer's cooking seminar, and we did lots of shopping . The shows were great! The Beach Boys put on a super show. Great performers.
We also saw Vince Gill...one of our favorite singers. He is an excellent performer...SO GLAD we got to see him!
On Sunday, we went to Buckner's Chicken Restaurant in Jackson, GA. What a find! However, we did miss the Vogues on Sunday evening.(we had just seen them in Syracuse, so we were okay with it) All in all, we had a good time at the rally, and when we left Atlanta, we went a few miles down the road (35 miles) to High Falls SP. Another nice park. We visited Indian Spring SP and Dauset Nature Park where we went on some nice hikes.

While at the COE park we also visited FDR's Little White House in Warm Springs, GA. He did so much for the people of that town and the rehab hospital where he went for therapy for his polio.
After enjoying campfires, bike rides and touring the attractions in the area, and beautiful sunsets, we headed to Birmingham, AL. We stayed at Oak Mountain SP just 15 miles from the heart of the city. We went to Vulcan Park and the Civil Rights Institute. The 16th St Baptist Church is across the street from the institute. Great museum and Vulcan Park is a great place to go to see the skyline of Birmingham.
Leaving Birmingham, we went to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL where we spent 3 nights...doing laundry, cleaning and putting a new alternator in the truck. We didn't do any touring there, as we wanted to be in Gulf Breeze, FL for the weekend. We are in Fort Pickens National Park on the Gulf. The park could use some updating, but works great for what we are planning to be doing here., and the price is right...$13 with W/E with our Golden Age Card. The beaches are beautiful and it is a great place to ride bike. We are scheduled to be here until Thursday, but we also have a few friends in the area we want to visit.
Well, that's it for now, folks. This is my first attempt at a blog, hope you enjoy!
